This is more than just a corporate site. It is a part of our strategy to communicate with those who, through this privileged information channel, want to know us better, but fundamentally a work platform for Community and its associated municipalities to share resources and promotion of activities, making it an instrument for regional development.
CIM Alto Minho was founded on 15 October 2008, under the law no. 45/2008 of 27 August, based on a new local context, as a result of the reorganization of NUT III, which radically altered the municipal model of intervention. This was the first communities, otherwise, the first intermunicipal community created in the country.
Heir of the fruitful work of partnerships initiated by the municipal associations that preceded it (the Urban Community Valimar and the Intermunicipal Community of Vale do Minho), its constitution has become just a vision of strategic partnership between local authorities, to respond to new realities and to promote investments and structural projects for Alto Minho.
First, as CIM Alto Minho priority for the coming years, it is the management of the Plan Territorial Development of Minho-Lima, who was the subject of contracts with the Managing Authority of Operational Program of North 2007-2013 and include a global subsidy of about 78 million euros to support investments which are considered strategic for this territory.
Moreover, it is our ambition through joint action with the municipalities to find ways to play and share management of public services, with great benefits in terms of cost and quality of provision and upgrading of services, but also support the development of applications at programs of QREN and strengthen the intervention capacity of local institutions, enhancing regional development dynamics.
CIM Alto Minho and the municipalities within it are aware of the challenges faced in the near future and are willing to contribute in an active and committed, together with other actors in the region, to take the leap necessary to achieve strategy advocated by placing Alto Minho on a path of economic and social development.
As a president of the Executive Council of the CIM commit myself for that and for the community strategy is the expression of a regional level, with great ideas and instruments are well defined.
